The Eagles – The first four days

Candace ShawEstancia, Latest News

Wow what a busy first week for our Estancia Delegation, and how quickly has it already gone.

Day 1 – Arrival

The Eagles landed to cheers and hugs from their new host families and old friends. Our hosting families turned out in force and welcomed all the students, and Chaperone, Linda Tenno with open arms.

That same evening Hoppers Crossing Secondary College and the Host families officially welcomed the Eagles at the Pot Luck dinner, held at Mrs Tipping’s house, which we are very thankful for. Lots of food, laughs and conversations were shared and the Eagles gave a small introduction so everyone was well acquainted.

Day 2 – Welcome to HCSC

Monday was the first day at school, where the Eagles got their very own College tour, morning tea and a whole school assembly to welcome them into the College community. This was a very exciting experience for the Estancia students, being welcomes to a gym full of cheering students from Year 7 through to 12. That afternoon our Student Representative Council (SRC) presented the delegation with their Hoppers Crossing Secondary College Jackets to ensure they will remain nice and warm during the cold Melbourne winter.

That very evening the Estancia Delegation, Hoppers Crossing students and teachers headed out to watch the College compete in the annual Wakakkirri Schools Competition. A great night and well done to the Wakakirri team for an outstanding performance once again.Watch this space to see if we made the finals.

Day 3 – Police & Fire Departments

On Tuesday the Eagles boarded a small bus to make their way to our local Police and Fire Departments, followed by a lunch at the local Hoppers Club (bistro). This was an opportunity for the Eagles to test out a Chicken Parma and some tasty Pavlova. With full stomachs the delegation took the afternoon to practice the presentation they were due to present to Wyndham City Council that night. This was a great night, with a fantastic presentation made by all the Eagles.

Day 4 – Around the College

Wednesday allowed the Eagles to experience some classes at the College, learning some Australian History, sampling a class with their host student and even being filmed for an episode of Hoppers TV, due to air shortly.

Whoa, what a busy first 4 days!! We all look forward to the rest of their time here and experiences.
