The HAST Examination
The testing is conducted for and should only be taken by students who are performing above standard, using the Higher Ability Selection Test (HAST) administered by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). Learning areas assessed on the examination include mathematical reasoning, reading comprehension and written expression.
The results allow the College to identify highly able students who may then be awarded with an academic scholarship to the value of $1,500.
These students are also invited to take part in the Select Entry Enrichment Pathway (SEEP) Program at the College (for year 7-9 scholarships).
The scholarship consists of $500 per year for Years 7, 8 and 9 for junior scholarships and Years 10, 11 and 12 for senior scholarships – a total of $1500 over 3 years. Each year, $500 is credited to your school account and can be used for any of the following:
- HCSC E-Book Subscription
- Language Perfect Subscription
- English Novel
- Essential Student Learning Items
- Camps
- Excursions
- Uniform
- Netbook Provision
Please note, the $500 credit expires within each school year, and leftover funds are not carried forward to the next school year.
**Please note - there is no practice material available for this examination.
